Soon after I moved to the Lehigh Valley in May, 1992, I met Charles James at work.
He would always talk about this community radio station he was helping to start.
Since it took me a good long while to get over the trauma of moving my life from Ohio to Pennsylvania,
I wasn't able to get involved... at first.
But having been infected by radio back in high school,
I became a volunteer at WDIY not long after
broadcasts began.
WIDY is a non-profit, non-commercial radio station right here in the Lehigh Valley.
Since January, 1997, I've hosted an electronic music show on WDIY called Galactic Travels every Thursday night
from 11:04 pm to 1:00 am.
Originally called EMUSIC, after the genre of music presented, the name changed to Galactic Travels in 2005.
On this show, I present hour-long soundscapes of electronic, ambient, and space music.
The first hour starts with the Vinyl Starter followed by new and old releases.
The second hour is the Featured CD at midnight where an entire CD is played in support of the month's
Special Focus on an artist, group, record label, or event.
